The San Fermin Festival takes place every summer from July 6th through July 14th. The encierros, which is what locals call the bull runs, have a loyal following of people who return to Pamplona year after year. Some of these participants are genuine adrenaline-junkies, others are the occasional thrill-seeker, and fewer still are veteran bull runners who know every inch of the bull run course.

At precisely 8 a.m., six bulls and six oxen are released onto Calle Santo Domingo. The route is clearly marked with barricades all the way to the bullfighting arena, or Plaza de Toros. The bulls that run in the encierro are featured in the afternoon's bullfight.
