Bull Run Official Rules
Pamplona’s famous bull run or “encierro” is one of the most nerve-wrecking spectacles you’ll ever experience. This traditional bull run attracts thousands of spectators and runners from all over the world every year. Unfortunately, not everyone gets to run due to the fact that not very many runners know the rules. People get kicked out from the bull run route before it even starts! Don’t waste your time in a failed attempt at experiencing this once in a lifetime adventure. Here are all the rules to successfully participate in the running of the bulls:

- Under-aged (under 18 y.o.) are NOT allowed to participate in the encierro (bull run).
- Cameras, phones, and backpacks are prohibited during the run.
- Adequate running footwear should be worn at all times during the run (no sandals).
- No one under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed to run.
- The streets will be cleared prior to the run, everyone will be evacuated from the route.
- All runners must stand before the police filter right by the “ayuntamiento” or City Halls prior to the run.
- It is prohibited to block or stand by buildings or barriers entrances along the bull run route.
- During the run, it is also prohibited to stop and take pictures inside the route.
- Any behavior that conflicts with the course of the bull run will be penalized.
- Molesting, touching, or harassing the bulls is strictly prohibited and violators will be fined.
