9 days of non-stop partying
The San Fermin Festival dates are July 6th-14th every year. The fiesta officially kicks off at noon on July 6th with the “Chupinazo.” During the opening ceremony, rockets are launched from the balcony of City Hall before the thousands of boisterous revelers in Plaza Consistorial.
The festivities continue for eight consecutive days, filled with death-defying bull runs, parades, musical performances, and nightly bullfights featuring Spain’s most illustrious matadors. The festival finally ends at midnight on July 14th with a candlelit closing ceremony called "Pobre de Mi."
Visitors are welcome to partake in more than 400 free events during the San Fermin celebration, including Basque dancing and music, sporting activities, nightly fireworks competitions, and live concerts all over the city. The local Pamploneses welcome travelers the world over with open arms, and it is easy to blend in with the 1 million festival-goers as the streets turn into a flowing sea of red and white, the official colors of San Fermin.
The San Fermin Festival 2022 event schedule largely takes place within the confines of Pamplona’s Casco Viejo, or Old Town, which is still bounded, in part, by medieval walls.
Our guests are always pleasantly surprised by the pure chaos and exhilaration that characterizes the San Fermin experience. And we can help you navigate this iconic celebration, immortalized by Ernest Hemingway.
Since a million people descend on a city of just 220,000, all of Pamplona’s services and amenities are stretched to the limit. We recommend booking your San Fermin tours and lodging as early as possible to ensure availability. Some hotels and balconies sell out as early as September the year before
